A channel list this long is unusable. Here is how to fix it.
Hiding groups, building favourites and sorting the list so your television opens on something useful rather than an alphabetical wall of feeds you will never watch.
The first evening problem
Everybody has the same first evening. The player finishes loading, you press the guide button, and you are looking at several thousand groups in an order that means nothing to you, most of them in languages you do not speak.
This is not a fault and it is not a reason to ask for a smaller package. It is what an unfiltered list of everything looks like. Fifteen minutes of tidying turns it into something better than any single broadcaster gives you.
Hide first, sort second, favourite third
Work in that order. Open the player settings, find the section for managing groups, and hide every country and category you have no interest in. Do it ruthlessly. Nothing is deleted and you can bring any of it back in a moment.
Then sort what remains so your own region sits at the top. Then, and only then, start adding individual channels to favourites. Doing favourites first means picking them out of a list you have not yet made navigable.
What this does beyond tidiness
A smaller visible list is materially faster. The guide has less data to render, search has less to look through, and on weaker hardware like a smart television or an older stick the difference between the full list and a trimmed one is the difference between responsive and sluggish.
It also cuts the guide download. If your listings take four minutes to appear on a television, hiding two thirds of the groups will roughly halve that.
Different lists for different people
If you have more than one device slot, set each one up for whoever uses it. The bedroom device can show only the groups that person watches. A tablet handed to a child can show the kids groups and nothing else, which takes about a minute and is far more reliable than a parental code they will watch you type.
Because each slot is a separate login, none of these arrangements interfere with each other. The living room stays exactly as you left it.
Keep the list current
Revisit it twice a year, around the start of the football season and again in the new year. Groups get added, competitions move, and the list you built last spring is probably missing something you now want at the top.
It takes five minutes on the second pass because you already know where the settings are. The people who get most out of the subscription are the ones who treat the channel list as something they maintain rather than something they were given.
