The setup
Download the player
Open the Apps page on this site in the device browser and download the installer. On a TV box with only a remote, use the Downloader app and our numeric code instead, because typing a full address with a directional pad is miserable.
Approve the install
Android asks whether to allow installs from your browser or from Downloader. Approve it. The permission is granted to that one app only and you can withdraw it afterwards without affecting the player.
Enter your details
Launch the player, choose Xtream Codes, and enter the server, username and password from your account. If you prefer a single field, paste the M3U link instead, but you will get a better guide from Xtream.
Switch on hardware decoding
In the player settings, set the decoder to hardware or hardware plus. On a modest TV box this is often the whole difference between clean 4K playback and a picture that tears every few seconds.
Sort the groups before you start watching
Move your regions to the top, hide the ones you do not want, and add twenty or thirty channels to favourites. Ten minutes here saves an hour of scrolling over the following month.
Things that catch people out
- On a phone, watch in landscape with auto-rotate enabled. Several players will not fill the screen otherwise.
- Sound but no picture, or picture but no sound, is almost always the decoder. Switch it in settings and reopen the channel.
- On a TV box, use the Ethernet port. Wireless is the single most common cause of evening stutter we see.
